MS SQL Server Database Architect (CDC Expertise)

MBI Digital is looking for an MS SQL Server Database Architect with total work experience of 10+ yrs and minimum 5+ yrs of related experience as a database architect with a focus on MS SQL Server and CDC implementation.

The MS SQL Server Database Architect will proactively lead the design and implementation of Change Data Capture (CDC) processes between the TriZetto Facets database and the Abacus Insights platform. This role will involve designing an efficient data pipeline, ensuring data synchronization, and supporting data integrity and performance optimization throughout the
integration. Experience with TriZetto Facets and the Abacus Insights platform is a strong plus.

This is a 100% remote opportunity with 6 months project engagement with possibility of extension. The candidate should be willing to work in the Pacific time zone.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Proactive Leadership: Guide the CDC integration, understanding where the issues are and propose potential solutions, and then take positive and proactive steps to keep it operational and efficient.
  • Architect and Design Data Flow: Design and implement a robust architecture for Change Data Capture (CDC) to enable data synchronization between the TriZetto Facets database and the Abacus Insights data platform.
  • Implement CDC: Lead the setup and configuration of CDC within MS SQL Server to ensure efficient and accurate data replication, capturing inserts, updates, and deletes from the Facets database. Understand the impacts of upgrades, data refreshes, patching and other activities on the health of the data integration.
  • Facets & Abacus Integration: Look at the data ecosystem holistically to maximize the efficiency of the Abacus/PHP data partnership and minimize maintenance. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless CDC integration between Facets and the Abacus Insights data platform, leveraging the strengths of both systems.
  • Data Quality & Integrity: Implement monitoring and validation mechanisms to ensure high-quality and consistent data across systems.
  • Optimize Performance: Tune the CDC process for optimal performance, minimizing resource usage and ensuring data integrity throughout the pipeline.
  • Documentation & Best Practices: Create detailed technical documentation on the CDC architecture and data flow processes. Establish and enforce best practices for future CDC implementations and system scalability.
  • Troubleshooting & Support: Quickly identify and resolve any technical issues during the CDC implementation and post-launch to ensure ongoing functionality.
  • Training and Knowledge Transfer: Provide training and guidance to internal teams to ensure they are well-versed in CDC technology and processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
    • Master’s degree is a plus
  • Technical Skills:
    • Extensive experience with MS SQL Server, including hands-on expertise in configuring and managing Change Data Capture (CDC).
    • Strong understanding of SQL Server database architecture, performance tuning, and optimization.
    • Proficiency in integrating MS SQL Server with data platforms such as Abacus Insights or similar solutions.
    • Knowledge of ETL processes, data replication, and data migration strategies.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience as a database architect with a focus on MS SQL Server and CDC implementation.
    • Experience in healthcare or insurance-related data systems, especially with Facets, is a strong advantage.
    • Experience with the Abacus Insights platform is a plus.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Ability to think beyond the database, with excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to look at the data ecosystem holistically.
