Business System Analyst

MBI Digital is looking for a Business System Analyst with 8+ years experience who serves as a liaison between multiple business units and technology teams to define processes, identify process improvement opportunities, and implement new functionality. Considering the BSA’s upstream position in the workflow, they serve as the first line of defense by examining incoming requirements and data for any issues and mitigate risk before work gets handed off for development.  This is a business-facing and technology-facing role, requiring excellent communication and organizational skills to create alignment amongst multiple sponsors.

This is a 100% remote opportunity.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Partner effectively with technology delivery teams and subject matter experts in a collaborative manner, ensuring business processes are understood, documented, and fit the needs of the organization.
  • Map processes from current to future state and define business and technical requirements and scope.
  • Ensure process documentation is created, stored in a shared environment, and remains current.
  • Support technology teams in translating business requirements to detailed stories/tasks for development teams to deliver business functionality.

 

Job Duties:

  • Break down high-priority features into digestible user stories.
  • Understand the business case, elicit requirements, and craft the problem statement.
  • Analyze the requirements and research/document the current vs. future state.
  • Establish what falls in/out of scope, communicate any assumptions/risks, and determine acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate regularly with developers, quality assurance, product owner, and business users.
  • Assist QA with development of test scenarios/cases to align with relevant acceptance criteria.
  • Facilitate user story handoff meetings and set the team up for success. 
  • Actively participate in all team meetings, such as daily stand-ups, user story refinement sessions, team retrospectives, etc.

 

Required Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with a diverse group of team members, including managers, IT professionals, and subject matter experts with ranging technical abilities and experience levels.
  • Ability and proven experience to translate stakeholder requirements into technical specifications.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong ability to work effectively within time constraints, changing priorities, and independently.
  • Be self-directed, requiring minimal supervision while achieving consistent, timely delivery of objectives.
  • A least 5 years of experience gathering business requirements and creating user stories using Agile software development cycles (Scrum / Kanban).
  • Expertise in reading/writing SQL queries and stored procedures (SQL Server)
  • Ability and proven experience writing detailed documentation of work in Jira features/user stories, Confluence, SharePoint, and BRD repositories.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Health Insurance domain experience (member portal, benefit summaries, online enrollment, IVR system, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Facets healthcare administration system
  • Familiarity with web applications, APIs
  • DevOps experience
  • Code-reading ability
  • ITIL Foundation v4
