SQL Server Database Administrator (with Performance Engineering)

MBI Digital is looking for a SQL Server Database Administrator with minimum 6 years experience as high end SQLServer DBA with Performance engineering skills that include the ability to diagnose performance related issues. The knowledge of using SQLServer Performance Monitor, the ability to analyze Query showplans. A strong knowledge of SQL and stored procedure analysis. Plus the traditional DBA skill set for managing a database environment.

The candidate should be proficient in using SQL database management and monitoring tools and would be required to provide DBA on-call and weekend support on rotation basis for planned and unplanned activities.

The Administrator would also establish security controls for PHI/PII data in compliance with Corporate and legal guidelines

This is a 100% remote opportunity. The project engagement is for 6 months with possibility of extension. The candidate should be willing to work in PST time zone.

Roles & responsibilities

  • The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field 
  • High end SQLServer DBA with Performance engineering skills that include the ability to diagnose performance related issues. Experience working in "Performance Tuning"
  • The knowledge of using SQLServer Performance Monitor, the ability to analyze Query showplans. A strong knowledge of SQL and stored procedure analysis. Plus the traditional DBA skill set for managing a database environment.
  • Administration, Installations, Migrations, Patching, Backup and Recovery 
  • Monitoring and analyzing SQL Server Logs and Application logs.
  • The candidate should have experience working in Azure, AWS or Snowflake
  • Good understanding of Indexes, Statistics and Postgres
  • Creation and maintenance of Databases, creating Roles and managing user permissions, resolving deadlocks.
  • Worked on Database Maintenance, Backups and Recovery Plans.
  • Database Monitoring, Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, Backup/Recovery, Security Management.
  • Worked on AlwaysOn, Replication, Log Shipping related issues.
  • Strong working experience in creating, modifying tables, Index (Cluster/Non-Cluster), Developed Different Maintenance Plans for database monitoring, table partitioning.
  • Monitor Server Activity using third party software’s, and solving problems as needed.
  • Administering databases in development, test and production environment.
  • Automation using PowerShell scripts, BASH, Python
  • Implementing best practices for access controls
  • Ability to document technical as well as management process flows
  • Ability to work effectively with business areas, IT Support teams and peers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
