Sr. Applications Manager (Operations & Databases)

MBI Digital is looking for a Sr. Application Manager (Operations & Databases) to support large ITIL projects and lead large Application Management teams both Onshore and Offshore.

We seek a leader who is self-motivated, driven, collaborative, passionate about modern Database technologies and wants to have a direct positive impact on our customers business. Strong communication skills are a must to help manage a team of resources reporting to you.

The qualified Sr Applications manager will have demonstrated the ability to think strategically about businesses, create technical definitions around customer objectives in complex situations, develop solution and delivery strategies, motivate & mobilize resources, and deliver results.

This is a 100% remote position and candidates should be based in either one of these cities Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai. Candidate should be willing to overlap in EST time zone.  

Primary Skills:

  • Proficiency in managing database-related incidents and problems. Experience in leading incident response teams, performing root cause analysis, and implementing preventive measures to avoid recurring issues
  • Demonstrated experience in providing managed services for cloud-based databases. Proven ability to work with clients or internal stakeholders to understand their database requirements, develop service level agreements (SLAs), and deliver high-quality managed database solutions.
  • Experience in creating Shift patterns ensuring the right skill set, and coverage across each shift to meet customer demand.
  • Experience in reporting, analyzing, and identifying high-volume repetitive tickets, utilizing problem management, tools, process, standards, and automation to drive down incident volumes
  • Run and maintain process documents, standard operating procedures and controls
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator in one or more database management systems (e.g., MSSQL, Oracle, Netezza, etc) or similar role 
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud database services.
  • Proven experience in database modernization initiatives, specifically migrating from on-premises database systems to cloud-native database technologies. 
  • Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages for automating database tasks (e.g., Python, BASH, PowerShell).
  • Experience in defining and monitoring performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) for managed database services. Ability to generate regular reports, analyze trends, and provide continuous improvement and optimization recommendations
  • Extensive experience in leading and delivering high-profile programs
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large programs of work with multiple functional and technical capabilities
  • The individual should be accustomed to providing customer facing DB management services
  • Experience creating robust Training programs both soft and technical skills based which will meet the needs of the business and customers
  • Familiarity with IT service management frameworks like ITIL is a plus

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.

 

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience leading a team of resources in ITSM based projects with strong understanding and experience in Database operations
  • Total years of experience 10+ years of which 5 years managing teams and 8+ years of Database Applications management experience at scale in modern infrastructure teams
  • Experience working in a global delivery model supporting onshore, offshore teams

 

Good to have:

  • Experience working in Lean / Agile / Scrum methodologies for enterprise IT delivery
  • Cloud Infrastructure service delivery in Azure/OCI/AWS.
  • Working with or for an IT services related business
  • ITIL based qualifications
  • Project management accreditation, JIRA and Confluence
