DB2 Mainframe Administrator

MBI Digital is looking for a DB2 Mainframe Administrator who acts as a leader to establish proactive database maintenance, handles complex performance issues, and performs hands on troubleshooting. Works in various ways in various roles; be it part of a team-initiative conducting a deep dive into an issue on a mission critical application; an individual full stack analyst who can proactively seek out, prove root cause and provide corrective actions or work-arounds for the issue, or as an advisor for offering best practices of configurations, installations, migrations to the client business and development teams.

This is a 100% remote opportunity. Candidates should be ready to work in fixed US Eastern time-zone & be available on call during off business hours & weekends

Roles and responsibilities: 

  • Application Support for DB2 Mainframe environment includes: 
  • Manages DB2 table changes to support application design
  • Responsible for application database backups, reorgs, migration between environments
  • Supports Application Group Change Management migration of DB2 code, STP's, security for production migrations
  • Supports Custom Archive purge procedures and jobs as required
  • Assist with the Application group with SQL development as required
  • Uses Change Control procedures for system changes that impact the DB2 database instances that support CICS, DB2 stored procedures or packages, or other environments, e.g. Batch job submission
  • Lead DB2 Application support for Disaster Recovery with the Outsourcer for database recovery with the outsourcers technical DBA's,
  • Manage, review, and communicate database projects with the Application, Infrastructure, and Outsourcer. e.g., DB2 upgrade, or required changes with outsourcer
  • Support and assist End Users for proper access and database security
  • Support and maintain production to test database downloads
  • Handles Reporting Tool Admin and support issues, e.g. QMF

 

Qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or MS in Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in managing Linux based infrastructure
  • Experience and knowledge of current trends within the Web Technology industry
  • Relevant certification would be a plus

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to administer backups using built-in / 3rd party tools
  • Professional experience in the healthcare or financial industry
  • Familiarity working in an offshore / onsite business model
  • Experience and knowledge of current trends within the Web Technology industry
