MQ Mainframe Administrator

MBI Digital is looking for a IBM MQ Mainframe Administrator who acts as a leader to establish proactive maintenance processes, handles complex performance issues, and performs hands-on troubleshooting. 

The MQ Mainframe administrator works in various ways in various roles; be it part of a team-initiative conducting a deep dive into an issue on a mission critical application; an individual full stack analyst who can proactively seek out, prove root cause and provide corrective actions or work-arounds for the issue, or as an advisor for offering best practices of configurations, installations, migrations to the client business and development teams.

This is a 100% remote opportunity. Candidates should be ready to work in fixed US Eastern time-zone & be available on call during off business hours & weekends

Roles and responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for installation and configuration of WMQ v.6 / v.7 on multiple platforms (UNIX, zOS and Windows)
  • Responsible for implementing and supporting the WebSphere MQ Series infrastructure
  • Monitoring and maintaining Websphere MQ objects such as Queue Managers, Queues, channels and listeners
  • Troubleshooting on IBM websphere MQ version 6.0,7.0 and 8.0,Backup and Recovery and upgrades of MQ objects 
  • Involvement in Disaster Recovery Activity
  • Responsible for providing Application level security 


Qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or MS in Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 years Experience in Administration of WebSphere MQ (WMQ) v5.3 and above
  • Experience in Installation, Configuration and administration  of WebSphere MQ and above on Windows and UNIX platforms
  • Good knowledge on MQ clustering, MQ Backup and Recovery
  • Good to have hands on experience  with Mainframe zOS, Windows, Linux, etc


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Websphere Message Broker 
  • Experience in HACMP, MQ Cluster, MQ API Exits
  • Familiarity with MQsecurities like SSL and OAM
  • Experience in messaging tools like RfhUtil, q-tool, q-load, Qpasa

Other Qualifications

  • Complete required screenings and background checks for client work
  • Ability to work in fixed US Eastern time-zone & be available on call during off business hours & weekends
  • Critical thinker with excellent communication and good time-management skills
  • Ability to spend long hours in intense concentration
  • Capable of completing tasks within tight deadlines
